Create electrical documentation

Work with sheets, shared device functions, cross-references and a linked PDF book.

Step 1

Navigate and identify the project

  1. Open Electrical. Select each sheet in the page navigator: Relay control and Switched indicator.
  2. In the document properties, review the project number, title, customer, revision and date. Change the Project name in the app header if you want a distinct saved copy.
Check your result

You see two A4 drawings with title blocks. The document metadata and saved project name have distinct purposes.

Step 2

Edit one shared device

  1. Select the K1 coil on sheet 1. Change Device tag to K7 in its inspector.
  2. Open sheet 2 and inspect the relay contact and its coil reference.
Check your result

Both coil and contact show K7 because they belong to the same device. The reference navigates to its related function.

If you get stuck: Do not add a second relay just to draw its contact on another sheet. A device owns multiple functions.

Step 3

Move a function between sheets

  1. Select the coil again. Change Function sheet to sheet 2 and inspect the updated drawing and references.
  2. Open Reports → Devices. Then use Undo electrical edit to put the coil back; undo once more if you also want to restore K1.
Check your result

The function's sheet/zone reference follows its placement and the device remains a single BOM item.

Step 4

Inspect connection properties

  1. Select a connection on the drawing. Review its two function terminals, designation, color and cross-section.
  2. Use Connect in the drawing toolbar to connect terminals. For connections to another sheet, keep the starting terminal selected while changing sheets.
Check your result

Connections refer to actual function terminals. Cross-page labels identify the other endpoint.

If you get stuck: Drawing graphics are not conductors. If automatic routing reports a blocked corridor or ambiguous overlap, move functions to create space; manual bend editing is not implemented.

Step 5

Generate and review the reports

  1. Open Reports and inspect Devices, Bill of materials and Connections. Open Checks and review diagnostics.
  2. Confirm that the relay's coil/contact contribute one device quantity. Other tutorials cover terminal, cable and PLC schedules.
Check your result

Reports reflect the current device/function graph. This example has no design-check errors or warnings before edits.

Step 6

Export documentation and editable source

  1. Choose PDF book for the linked drawing/report package and Documentation ZIP for the PDF, SVG pages, CSV reports, source JSON and hash manifest.
  2. Use Save project or the complete project JSON export for your editable work.
Check your result

The original relay example produces an 11-page book, including its two drawing sheets.

If you get stuck: Export does not constitute engineering approval. Confirm real device ratings, protective measures and installation details before construction.
